What makes a good doctor? Here it from Dr Om kapoor Florida

They say doctors do it with skill and love. Once such example is rightly set forth by Dr Om Kapoor, who has renounced his life for the sake of the medical profession. He believes that it takes a lot of effort to become a good doctor. It takes a lot of determination and a high IQ to get through a med school. But is that all? Will it yield a good doctor? Dr Om Kapoor, one of the exemplary doctors from Florida discusses below the skills and qualities a physician must possess.

1. Communication

Dr Om Kapoor stresses on becoming a good communicator is essential in becoming a good doctor. One must be a good listener and let their patients speak up about their ailment. This would help you in pinpointing the exact problem and give them a solution that they are searching for. Dr Om Kapoor explains “Listening to your patient will make them feel empowered and cared, which is crucial for any treatment.”

2. Staying organized

Dr Om Kapoor from Florida says “Having an organized conscience and a great presence of mind is an essential factor in becoming a good doctor. Of course, without these qualities, it becomes impossible to succeed from a medical school. But then physicians must make sure to practice these qualities all throughout their lives.”

3. Caring for your patients

“This becomes one of the major qualities that you must possess to become a good doctor.” says the 60 year old physician from Florida. Dr Kapoor says “Patients must feel a sense of security. You must not consider them just as a list of medical issues. Rather make them feel more connected to you. Care for your patients by listening attentively to them and raising concerns over their worries about their health”

4. Curious

“Doctors must be inherently curious” laughs out Dr Om Kapoor. “Throughout my career, I had come across various cases wherein accurate diagnosis was never easy. In such situations reaching out to my colleagues or doing some extra research has helped me a long way” says the scholar from Columbia University Medical Center.

5. Confidence in your judgment

Dr. Om Kapoor adds on “Junior doctors always make this mistake of not having faith in their judgment. One must trust their instincts when it comes to diagnosing. Performing several tests to rule out a serious medical condition may seem viable but then running them all the time is a pure waste of time.

6. Emotional intelligence

“Identifying ailments that are psychological requires you to be not just smart but emotionally intelligent as well. Sometimes patients may be confronting some emotional issues that can have an impact on their physical health as well” warns Dr Om Kapoor Florida. Doctors must be able to differentiate the ailments of psychiatric origin from physiologic ones.
Dr Om Kapoor Florida, a pioneer from NYU says that it is not just a medical school degree and a few years of practice that makes a good doctor. But also possessing and practicing these personality traits is also vital in becoming a great doctor.
